Jose Gonzalez and Tinariwen live this week
Tuareg soul rebels Tinariwen take to the stage fresh from winning the
2012 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album. Joining them onstage and
following with his only set in the UK this year will be acoustic
singer-songwriter Jose Gonzalez.
Critically acclaimed the world
over, Tinariwen draws from an astonishingly broad palette of African
styles – Tuareg melodies, Berber singers, Algerian and Egyptian pop and
Malian guitar. They also take the best elements of what western music
that managed to make its way through to the Sahara.
Meanwhile,
Jose Gonzalez’s intimate style, haunting melodies and uncompromising
style will provide perfect counterpoint to Tinariwen’s grooves.
